“ All day breakfast. Delicious lox and cream cheese omelette. Veronica is an amazing server and really looked out for us. Great deli ambience. ”
“ DZ Akin's is very well know amongst the East county community, it is an institution, and proves itself everyday. We ordered the hot pickled tongue and the pastrami dip. The pastrami and the au jus were good but unfortunately a bit cold. The hot pickled tongue was also well made. Surprisingly the onion rings were actually really good even though it was just a side dish. The au jus also had a great flavor to it. The price of the sandwiches averaged around 22 dollars each, which is quite expensive. The portions were quite large upon first glance but the pastrami was all in the very front with the back of the sandwich being completely empty. The waitress was very sweet and checked up on us regularly without being too disruptive. The all around vibe of the place was quintessential diner and the deli really reminded me of a proper new York deli. ”
“ Such a neat deli to visit mid day for lunch! There was a cute gift shop and bakery that you walk through before reaching the hostess stand to be seated. The restaurant is big and filled with patrons. The menu was indeed overwhelming with variety. I need to go back and try other items when I'm not pressed for time. I opted for the ribeye medium rare; and my partner went with the chicken and waffles. Portions were huge, and tasted great! ”

“ When in San Diego and craving latkes at Hanukkah, allow me to suggest this treasure. From the on site gift shop (yes) to the deli and bakery counters (indeed) to the wait staff that appear to be original, you have stepped back in time. And allow me to state that the food is nothing short of 70's deli nostalgia, so hard to find these days. A menu that must have a thousand items, pickles on the table, your every desired combo including a "mish mash" that has latkes, blintzes, kreplach and pierogi. Did I go for a bowl of cold borscht? You bet I did. ”
“ I went to DZ Akins today for dessert. I thought the black and white cookies was a ny thing but was surprised to see it here. I don't know if we got bigger or their desserts got smaller but I remember 6 adults not being able to finish a sundae. It took 2 adults and a teen and there was no struggle. ”

Oy Vay, did I just write this? I did and it's true. Service, food, ambiance is GREAT! Pssst.... The delicious deli sections are fresh, and the bakery goods are too! DZ Akins is the best on the South West of California!!! ”
